The Department of English Language & Literature (DELL) at City University, Bangladesh, is a distinguished department committed to nurturing both academic excellence and life-skills. Since its founding in 2007, DELL has offered robust undergraduate (BA Honours) and, since 2015, postgraduate (MA) programs in English.
DELL’s curriculum includes diverse and contemporary subject areas such as Comparative Literature, Cultural Studies, Translation Studies, Media & Message, Continental Literatures, South Asian & Caribbean Literature, and ELT & Materials Development. Classes are designed to promote critical thinking, creativity, moral values, and readiness to meet modern challenges, including those posed by the 4th industrial revolution.
Beyond academics, DELL fosters student engagement through a wide range of clubs and co-curricular activities through English Language and Debating Club, Cultural Club, City University English Literary Lounge (CELL), Sports Club, Art of Good Life Club, Research and Higher Studies Society (RHSS); and arranges cultural festivals, club carnivals, quizzes, seminars, workshops, and creative competitions. The department operates in close coordination with the Institutional Quality Assurance Cell (IQAC) and follows the Bangladesh National Qualifications Framework (BNQF) to ensure high academic standards. english.cityuniversity.ac.bd
